Jrotc as a whole is designed to show high school aged civilians how to progress into being good citizens once they join society as an adult. We learn leadership, some military values, respect, integrity, and self-confidence. However, that is the “in-class” aspect.
After school we have four teams: Color Guard, Marksmanship, JLAB, and Raiders. Color guard consists of marching and presenting the colors at most sporting events. Marksmanship is the precision team, using pellet rifles they shoot at still paper targets, the highest score wins both individually and as a team. JLAB is the leadership and academic team that has a lot of memorization and is very similar to math bowl. Lastly Raiders is the athletic team, there are five events and the fastest time wins the event, yet the lowest overall score wins the whole meet. This score is based on where your team places in each event.
While at nationals, our team took first place in the Cross Country Rescue with a time of 9:01. First in the Gauntlet with a 12:17. We were runner-ups in the Physical Team Test (P.T.T.) and the 5K mountain run, with times 7:19 and 35:08. In the (100 foot) One-Rope Bridge we got the time of 2:57 and placed fourth. From gaining 2 first places, 2 second places, and a fourth place, our overall score was 10 determining that we had scooped the win for the meet in its entirety.
